I’d like to know if the application form for “elite citizen” is actually a category of Canadian citizenship.
My friends, John and Vicky Lang, moved to St. Mary, Ontario in 2001. It’s a beautiful town not far from Niagra Falls, the locks from the St. Lawrence to Lake Ontario, and at the edge of the Niagra Escarpment.
Preparation to move there was complicated, beauracratically, even though John had a job there.
The film may be misleading about the simplicity of the immigration.
During the time they lived there, Vicky’s nephew came from Bogata, Colombia to become a citizen based on the dangerous situation in his country. (One of his uncles had been murdered, another was kidnapped for ransom.) The nephew was able to document these abuses with newspaper accounts and police reports from Bogata police records, to substantiate his application for asylum.
He was granted asylum after 3 years of hassels.
Do you know of anyone who has had a more successful expat experience?
