Roger Ailes, Still the Hate Monger and Hit Man
“Stung by Remarks, Nevada Democrats Cancel Debate on Fox,” reports today’s edition of The New York Times.
FOX manages the news, of course, as do the print media The Morning Call and The Express-Times manage the news in the so-called “Lehigh Valley,” currently defined as Lehigh and Northampton counties in eastern Pennsylvania and Warren and hunterdon counties in neighboring New Jersey to the east, across the Delaware River and the toll bridge of the corrupt Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission connecting Easton, Pennsylvania, and Phillipsburg, New Jersey.
Soon after the bloodless coup of November 2, 2000, Move.On.org. and other anti-war organizations stated a protest against FOX news in front of its headquarters and studios on the Avenue of the Americas.
It was raining, and as I stood on the stage holding an umbrella over the heads of the speakers, I saw Roger Ailes emerge from his building with a number of umbrellas cradled in his arms, proffered to the gathering throng, in a false humanitarian gesture meant to say, “Look, I’m just one of the proletariat, like you, not the ruthless hit man for Presidents Nixon, Reagan, and Bushes I and II.
Starting with Nixon, and continuing with Reagan and the Bushes, Ailes was an originator and purveyor of the Southern Strategy that wooed Southern Democrats away from President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal coalition of farmers, labor unionists, and black, Jewish, and WASP intellectuals into the arms of the Republican Party.
So no one should be surprised by Ailes’ most recent racial slurs, against Barak Obama, and the further alienation of the Democrats, not only in Nevada, but across the entire country - and, hopefully, across the entire political spectrum.
