As reported in today’s edition of The New York Times, the U.S. Department of the Interior is being sued for allegedly impeding audits for oil leases in he Gulf of Mexico, including waters off the coast of Alabama, my home state.
I have reported extensively on Department of Interior corruption, which has led to the forced resignation of former DOI Secretary Gale Norton.

That bankrupt Bethlehem Steel was bought by vulture venturer Wilbur L. Ross for $1.5 million, and then turned around and sold it to the another vulture venturer, India native Lakshmi Mittal for $2.5 million, was not a coincidence.
Ross, a Democrat married to and divorced from former New York Republican Lt. Governor Betsy McCaughey Ross, is the next door neighbor of Richard Fischbein in the Hamptons, Long Island, The Great Gatsby country of F. Scott fitzgerald.

Northampton County continues its govern behind closed doors, as demonstrated in today’s edition of The Morning Call. “Northampton turns over two audits to state to qialify for new grants.”
The county used the grant money to study sinkhole problems and to redevelopment brownfields along the Bushkill Creek, without county council approval and as a direct subsidy to Lafayette College and Arcadia Properties for the construction of a new urban center, Bushkill Village, in the Delaware River and Bushkill Creek floodplain.

“Official charges unfair attention from LVEDC,” reports an article published in September 10, 2006’s edition of The Express-Times.
LVEDC’s executive director, Beth Gorin, infiltrated the Lehigh Valley region’s porous borders from Bergen County, whose livability she helped destroy as the excutive director of its Department of Community and Economic Development.

Within a week of receiving a $500,000 grant from the state of Pennsylvania for renovations to the ProJeCt of Easton building at 200 Ferry Street (the former Social Seucity Administration building), the nonprofit social services organization that teaches the literacy classes is holding a fundraiser in Theodore Kheel’s and partner Peter Koehler’s new art gallery at 516 Northampton Street, the former Veterans of Foreign Wars building, as reported in today’s edition of The Morning Call.
This is not a news story, but a feature story. It should more appropriately appear in a Sunday edition as a community-interest feature story.
