The Fictional Lehigh Valley’s Newly Minted Counterfeit Government

Northampton Area Community College’s South Bethlehem campus has received a $1.2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce, as reported in yesteday’s edition of The Express-Times.

The grant’s ostensible purpose is to create a workforce development center, according to Bethlehem’s inept and corrupt Mayor John Callahan and equally venal U.S Congressman Charlie Dent (R-15).

PA Governor Ed Rendell’s KIZ, to Which Billy Bytes Says, “Kizz My Ass”

When Pennsylvania Governor announced the Keystone Innovation Zone (KIZ), the center of which is the state’s colleges and universities - the nucleus around which innovative satellite business partners cluster - he never mentioned that for Lehigh University one of these clustering industries - and hardly an innovative one - would be Las Vegas Sands slot machine gambling casino on the university’s front steps.

Or that the Lafayette College KIZ in Easton, Pennsylvania, would form the nucleus of a Bushkill Creek Corridor buit on 33 privately owned business located alongside the creek’s bed between 13th Street and the intersection of Larry Holmes Drive and Church Street - in the Delaware River and bushkill Creek floodplains.

The Deforestration of the City of Easton, Sans Agent Organge

Easton’s Philistines, including those on College Hill, are back at it:

They’re cutting down the city’s public trees, those located between sidewalk and street, without approval, and therefore in violation, of Easton’s tree ordinance.

Or has Easton’s officials capitulated to campaign contributors and the utility companies (one and the same?)  and rescinded the tree ordinance?

At yesterday’s lovefest between Easton Mayor Phil Mitman and Gov. Ed Rendell - as represented by DEP Secretary Kathleen McGinty, a huge banner had been placed across an exterior brick wall of the former Simon silk mill, accessed from 13th Street and Bushkill Drive.

The banner bore the seals of the City of Easton in the lower left -hand corner and that of Pennsylvania’s in the lower right-hand corner.

Ed “Fast Eddie” Rendell and the BAT

Please refer to this link, WFMZ-TV Online, “Brownfield Action Team to Assist Easton Project,” to be broadcast on WFMZ-TV tonight at 6:00 PM.

The Brownfield Action Team, or BAT, is a fraud.  It was ginned up by incumbent Democratic Governor Ed “Fast Eddie” Rendell and former Pennsylvania Republican Governor Tom Ridge to make an end-run (hear this, Lynne Swann?) around the federal Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), more commonly known as the Superfund Act.

Kudos to The Morning Call from a Harsh Critic

I want to thank The Morning Call for its article and editorial, and I say this as someone who has been a severe critic of the publication, as columnist Bill White, editorial page editor Glenn kranzley, and Easton editor Bob Orenstein, and other staffers, can attest.

I refer readers to the lead editorial, “Who owns slots casinos must be clear,” published in today’s edition of The Morning Call.

Pennsylvania taxpayers may be asked to foot the bill for casino promotions, as reported in the article titled “Tazpayers may pay for promoting slot parlors,” by Harrisburg Bureau reporter Christina Gostomski, published in today’s edition of The Morning Call.

Pennsylvania taxpayers, including those in Northampton County - and Northampton County taxpayers as well - are being made to pay for a project in the county and its seat Easton known as the Bushkill Creek Corridor redevelopment, as reported in today’s edition of The Express-Times, in an article titled “Silk mill site going on fast track.”

Fraud in the Valley Called Lehigh That Is Itself a Fraud

Please refer to the article, “Is tax-exempt LVH sharing enough of its wealth?,” by reporters Tim Darragh and Ann Wlazelek, published in yesterday’s and today’s editions of The Morning Call.

This is only the latest of a series of articles published by The Call on the subject of Lehigh and Northampton counties’ non-profit hospitals, involving retired Lehigh County Judge Robert Young as regards the Lehigh County non-profits and should involve the former non-profit Easton Hospital, now a for-profit facility owned by the Community Health Services Corporation of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
